Rwanda, home to the endangered Mountain Gorilla, is committed to making a difference to the tourist and the places you visit, while respecting the areas of the gorilla and yet preserving the environment for future generations to come. By way of the Gorilla trekking permits, contributions are not only given to the protection of the Mountain Gorilla against poachers, but also to enhance the conditions of the parks against deforestation, and to the local communities by assisting them in becoming self-sufficient.

Lake Kivu National Park

It lies between the border of Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, Lake Kivu is also close to the gorilla-tracking center of Rubengeri the largest of numerous freshwater bodies that shimmer in the valleys of Rwanda. It has a variety of bird life including; flotillas of pelicans, malachite kingfishers hawk. It passes through three towns namely Gisenyi, Kibuye and Cyangugu, there is a charter boat connecting the towns.

Nyungwe National Park

Covers to over 1,000 square kilometers across the majestic hills of South East Rwanda. It is the most ancient, dating back to the ice age and largest block mountain forest in East and Central Africa. It boasts of 13 primate species including the chimpanzee, L’Hoest monkey and hundreds of acrobatic Angola colobus. The forest has more than 200 different types of tree, flowers and colorful orchids. over 300 bird species are harbored in the park which include; the great blue turaco an outlandish green, blue and red bird.

Parc National Des Volcans

Nearly covered with rich green rainforest towering up to almost 15,000 feet, amongst them is “the Virungas” endowed by the mountain gorilla in its natural habitual ecosystem. The town of Ruhengeri at the base of the Virunga. On the outskirts of that town lies a solidified lava flow, a relic of volcanic activity that shaped the scenery.
